SAL ALL-STARS: Trio of Crawdads selected for game in Charleston, W. Va.

HICKORY – A trio of Hickory Crawdads players are headed to the South Atlantic League (SAL) All-Star Game on June 18 in Charleston, W. Va.

Outfielder Pedro Gonzalez, infielder Jonathan Ornelas and first baseman Curtis Terry are on the Northern Division roster announced by SAL officials on Tuesday.

Through games of Monday, Gonzalez was hitting .269 overall and .444 against left-handers. He had 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and six stolen bases.

Ornelas’ batting average of .283 topped the Crawdads through Monday. He had five home runs and eight stolen bases, and he had a 12-game hitting streak at one point.

Terry had 46 RBIs through Monday and was tied for second in home runs in the SAL with 15 and for doubles (20).

The SAL’s 60th annual All-Star Game will start at 7:35 p.m. at the Appalachian Power Park, home field of the West Virginia Power.
