Zach Jarrett batted eighth and started in left field on Tuesday night — going 1-for-3 and driving in a run — as the Bowie (Md.) Baysox won a Double-A game at home.
Bowie defeated visiting Reading (Pa.) 6-1, scoring four runs in the second inning before a crowd of 2,248.
The series continues Wednesday night in Bowie.
The Baysox (4-2) are in third place in the Double-A Northeast League’s East Division. They are a half-game behind second-place Richmond (Va.) and two back of Akron (Ohio).
Bowie is a farm club of the Baltimore Orioles while Richmond is affiliated with the San Francisco Giants and Akron with the Cleveland Indians.
Jarrett, a prep star at Hickory High who played college baseball at Charlotte, is hitting .211 this season.
He is the son of NASCAR champion driver Dale Jarrett and in his fourth on-field pro season (there were no minor league games in 2020).
