ZACH JARRETT (Class A Delmarva, Md.)

JARRETT

Zach Jarrett, who starred in high school at Hickory and in college at Charlotte, plays outfield for the Shorebirds (26-16).

He went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in a run Monday night at Hickory, where the Shorebirds fell 2-1 in 10 innings before a crowd of 633.

Jarrett hit third in the batting order and started in left field.

He has played in 39 games this season and is hitting .295 with eight home runs and 19 RBIs.

Jarrett is 13th among South Atlantic League (SAL) hitters and tied for fourth in home runs (8) behind Seuly Matias of Lexington (Ky.) with 12, Casey Golden of Asheville with 11 and Chad Spanberger of Asheville with 10.

In his last 10 games, Jarrett is hitting .300 with one home run and four RBIs.

HUNTER HARVEY (Class AA Bowie, Md.)

Former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey made his seventh start of the season on Sunday in a 10-5 victory at Trenton, N.J. He did not gain a decision, pitching four innings before a crowd of 4,284.

Harvey gave up five hits, three runs (all earned), walked none and struck out six, and his ERA is at 4.61.

Bowie was idle on Monday night.

In his seven starts for Bowie (19-23) this season, Harvey is 1-1 and has pitched 25 1/3 innings, allowed 26 hits, 13 runs (all earned), walked seven and struck out 23.

On Sunday, he threw 44 of his 69 pitches for strikes while facing 17 batters.

The Baysox are off Monday and start a three-game home series against Altoona (Pa.) on Tuesday night before playing a four-game series at Binghamton (N.Y.).

If Harvey works the fifth game of the week, his next start would be Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. at Binghamton.

HAYDEN DEAL (Class A Rome, Ga.)

Former Bandys High star Hayden Deal, a left-handed relief pitcher for the Braves (26-17), did not pitch on Monday when the Braves fell 18-2 at Lexington (Ky.) before a crowd of 2,967.

On Friday night, Deal pitched the seventh, eighth and ninth innings in relief in a 6-5 home win over Asheville. He allowed three hits, two runs (both earned) with one walk and four strikeouts.

He threw strikes on 29 of his 38 pitches and faced 13 batters.

Deal has pitched 16 1/3 innings over eight games this season, allowing 13 hits, four runs (all earned) with three walks and 25 strikeouts. His ERA is 2.20.

In his last three outings, Deal has gone nine innings and given up four hits while walking one and striking out 18 with an ERA of 2.00.
