BOONE – Former Bandys High star Madi Story reached 1,000 career points on Monday night while leading Appalachian State to a 94-70 victory over visiting Wofford in women’s basketball.
Story, the all-time leading scorer at Bandys, had a season-high 28 points – hitting 10 of her 16 shots – as she became the 25th women’s player in Appalachian State history to score 1,000 points.
She cleared 1,000 on a 3-point shot as the Mountaineers improved to 6-4, which includes a 5-0 mark at home this season.
Appalachian State is off to its best start through 10 games since the 2012-13 season and next plays at Clemson on Friday at 7 p.m.
Story is playing her fourth season at Appalachian State and back this year after missing last season with a lower leg injury. She was a preseason first-team All-Sun Belt Conference pick.
Her mom, Mitzi Yount Story, also played basketball at Appalachian State (1988-92) after leading Bandys to state basketball championships.
