LINCOLN, Nebraska – The new college basketball season is not that far away nor is a new gig for Catawba County native Bobby Lutz.

Lutz, a 1976 Bandys High graduate who helped coach the Trojans varsity and was later head coach of the Bunker Hill boys before heading into college coaching, is a special assistant to Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg this season. They previously worked together at Iowa State.

There won’t be that many opportunities close by for area fans to see Nebraska play – the Cornhuskers face Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Dec. 4 and play at Maryland on Feb. 11.

FULL DISCLOSURE: You’ll be able to follow Nebraska’s season via a link that will be provided this season at HobbsDailyReport.com, as Chris Hobbs – editor and content coordinator of HobbsDailyReport.com – and Lutz are high school classmates who also played youth baseball on the same team (see video below).
