MORRISTOWN, Tenn. – Shaniya Lester and Zharia Brown combined for 31 points on Tuesday night, but Walters State snapped Catawba Valley Community’s women’s basketball win streak by prevailing 75-48.
Lester scored 20 points and Brown had 11 but visiting CVCC (7-2) had a six-game win streak halted.
Zacharyia Esmon scored 19 points to lead the Senators (10-3), and Dajah Montgomery added 15 points.
The Red Hawks remained within striking distance after the first quarter, trailing 17-14.
But Walters State outscored CVCC 23-12 in the second quarter and never looked back.
CVCC’s next game is Sunday on the road against Bryant & Stratton College at 1 p.m. in Virginia Beach, Va.
