HICKORY – Catawba Valley Community College’s Tanisha Wall is ready for the next step.

Wall, a 5-foot-8 sophomore forward from Franklinton, has signed to play women’s basketball at Montreat College.

CVCC officials announced her decision on Tuesday in a press release.

“I’m ready for my next journey,” Wall said in the press release. “I want to finish the rest of my two years off strong and earn my bachelor’s degree.

“I’m glad that I came here to CVCC and (head women’s basketball) coach (Tisha) England’s program to get better physically and mentally. She prepared me for Montreat.”

The decision to choose Montreat was difficult for Wall, but she said a recent visit to the school is what helped her ultimately choose the Cavaliers.

“When I went up there and worked out with them, I liked it,” Wall said. “I liked the vibe from the head coach that they have.

“When I weighed my options out at all the schools that I had offers from, I felt like (Montreat’s) coach would get the best out of me.”

Wall averaged 11.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game in her final season for the Red Hawks, who were 27-5 overall and 20-2 in Region X.

Wall also set several records at CVCC, including the most games played in a season (32) and career (61) and the third-most rebounds in a season (262 this past winter).

“I am proud of Tanisha,” England said. “She has made a great impact as a Lady Red Hawk in the classroom as well as on the court. She is a jewel, and there is never a dull moment when she is around.

“I’m looking forward to seeing her play at the next level, and I know she will be successful due to her great foundation here at CVCC…”
