CVCC has won 199 consecutive matches in Region X play.

Williams, honored during the first set on Tuesday, has moved up to second all-time on the CVCC digs list. She is one of four Red Hawks to reach 1,000 career digs.

“Since I never got to reach that goal in high school, it was really special that I got to celebrate it here in college,” Williams said in a CVCC press release. “It meant a lot. I’m honored really.

“A lot of great people have passed through this program. Knowing that I’m towards the top is an awesome feeling.”

Williams had 13 digs on Tuesday, moving her career total to 1,028. She trails only former CVCC standout Katelyn Houser in career digs (1,703).

“Emily has worked really hard,” CVCC head volleyball coach Shannon Hudson said in the press release. “She is such a competitor. We are really proud of her.”

Emma Clark led CVCC offensively in Tuesday’s victory with eight kills, while Sage Harrington, Rachel Delcamp, Chesney Millsaps and Na-Diea Atkins each added three kills. Macy Pope assisted on a team-high 11 kills and added 11 digs.

The Red Hawks had 15 aces, including four each by Emilee Webber and Madi Bolch.

The first match for the Red Hawks is Friday at noon against Division III powerhouse Owens.

CVCC also faces St. Johns River State (3 p.m. Friday), Wallace State (6 p.m. Friday), Pasco-Hernando State (10:30 a.m. Saturday) and South Florida State (3 p.m. Saturday).
