HICKORY – Kinsley Gilmore, a .328 hitter for West Lincoln High this season, is headed to Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) to play softball.

The Red Hawks announced this week they’ll have Gilmore for the inaugural season of softball at CVCC.

“We are thrilled to be signing a player like Kinsley,” said CVCC head softball coach Josh Bumgarner. “The mixture of speed and power she brings to the table will really be beneficial for our program.”

A senior outfielder, Gilmore hit .328, scored 13 runs and drove in a team-best 18 runs for the Rebels.

As a four-year varsity player, Gilmore played in 94 games. She had 82 hits (21 doubles, six triples, five home runs), 75 runs scored, 14 stolen bases and 68 RBIs.

Defensively, Gilmore posted a .982 fielding percentage, making only two errors in 112 total chances.

West Lincoln won 65 softball games in Gilmore’s career (38 in conference) and the Rebels were state 2A runners-up in 2016, her freshman season.

Gilmore also played basketball at West Lincoln.
