NEWTON – Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) has shifted its home baseball series this weekend from Saturday to Sunday at the Legion Fairgrounds.

The Red Hawks, ranked No. 16 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) poll, will face Pitt Community College.

Due to a call for inclement weather on Saturday, the teams will play two games on Sunday. Game 1 at Henkel-Alley Field begins at noon (nine innings) and a seven-inning game follows.

CVCC is 18-8 overall and 4-2 in Region X and has won seven of its last eight games.

There will not be a third game in the series, as originally planned. The teams were going to play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and then a nine-inning game on Sunday at noon.
