CLAREMONT – Bunker Hill High cross country and track and field star Caroline Hilliard will continue her running career at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Hilliard, last season’s Northwestern Foothills 2A Runner of the Year, signed her national letter of intent on Tuesday at Bunker Hill.

She won the West 2A Regional title and capped her prep career with a 12th-place finish in the state 2A cross country meet.

Hilliard’s personal best time of 19 minutes, 38 seconds in the 5K is the all-time best among Bunker Hill girls’ runners, and she is the school record holder in the 3,200 meters.

Hilliard has a grade point average of 4.4 and plans to major in exercise science at LRU and wants to become a physical therapist.
