MAIDEN – Athletes Lab’s focus on providing opportunities for local athletes to receive specialized instruction on development is growing.

The company announced via a press release the hiring of Ryan Gant to head its Strength and Conditioning program and Audra Harrison as a Performance Coach.

The new hires have local ties, as do the Athletes Lab other staffers.

Grant Rembert — a former Maiden High football star — is CEO of Athletes Lab, working alongside his brother Aaron (COO/Manager), a multi-sport athlete at Maiden who left Mars Hill University as head baseball coach to come home and help launch Athletes Lab.

They earlier hired former Bunker Hill star athlete Cameron Beard (head of teams) and St. Stephens head baseball coach Adam Windham is a 14-U coach.

Athletes Lab opened a 33,000 square foot building in downtown Maiden in January and the facility works with athletes of all ages and all sports.

Gant played baseball at St. Stephens, American Legion baseball for Hickory Post 48 and also for Catawba Valley Community College. He was on CVCC’s 2012 Junior College World Series team.

Harrison played basketball and volleyball for four years at Fred T. Foard. She was the MVP of state 3A title teams in 2002 and 2003 and state player of the year in 2003.

She played volleyball at Gardner-Webb before working as a graduate assistant at Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Tex., and she then worked as an assistant coach at William & Mary.

After her college coaching, Harrison was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Marmon Muscle in Williamsburg, Va., and also worked as manager of the Pivot Physical Therapy Performance Center in Newport News, Va., before moving back to Hickory.

“I couldn’t be more excited for the addition of these two coaches,” Grant Rembert said of Ryan and Harrison in the press release. “Our athletes are going to be trained at the highest level with the latest scientific knowledge, programming and exercise.

“It is a great time to be a young athlete in the Unifour and I can’t wait to get started with them on board…

“They have devoted their careers to the development of athletes. What I like most about both is the fact that they are both what they preach.

“Both have played and coached at the collegiate level, have experience in body building, are in peak physical condition and (are) committed to continuing education and expertise in the industry.”
