NEW ORLEANS – Former Bandys High star Madi Story helped Appalachian State reach the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament in New Orleans.

The fifth-seeded Mountaineers beat No. 8 Coastal Carolina 78-42 in New Orleans on Wednesday when Story scored 18 points.

On Thursday, Appalachian State nipped No. 4 Georgia State 47-45 when Story scored seven points and hit the game-winner as the buzzer (https://appstatesports.com/news/2019/3/14/womens-basketball-storys-buzzer-beater-lifts-app-into-sun-belt-semifinals.aspx)

Story, who made all-tournament, had 10 points on Friday as the Mountaineers fell 80-64 to top-seeded Little Rock.

Little Rock beat seventh-seeded South Alabama 57-56 on Saturday to win the tournament.

Appalachian State is 18-14 overall and was 10-8 in the Sun Belt regular season.

The Mountaineers will now wait to hear if they reach a postseason tournament with the Women’s National Invitational (WNIT) or Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI) as possibilities.
