MAIDEN – Maiden Post 240 will make up a rained out Area IV American Legion baseball game at Cherryville, adding it to the schedule for Tuesday.

The game was originally scheduled for May 27, and the new date was announced Tuesday night via Salamanders head coach David Williams.

The game at Cherryville High will start at 6 p.m.

Maiden’s second, third and fourth games on the 2018 schedule were wiped out by rain and the other two games – against Hickory and Lincoln County – have already been made up.

The Salamanders (14-4, 12-2) are battling Shelby for the Area IV East Division championship.

The chase continues on Wednesday night when Maiden goes to Wingate to play Union County at 7 p.m., and Shelby visits Maiden on Friday at 7 p.m. in a showdown game at Maiden High.

Maiden’s other regular-season games are Saturday at 7 p.m. against Gastonia at Sims Park, the game at Cherryville and next Wednesday’s home game (7 p.m.) against Huntersville.

The Area IV playoffs are scheduled to begin on July 7.
