NEWTON — Hickory Post 48 is 2-3 as it heads into its next American Legion baseball game on Sunday night against Asheville (7 p.m.).
Post 48, coached by Allen Sigmon, has beaten Gastonia 6-5 and Lincolnton 8-7 to start the season and lost games against Gastonia 13-4, Burke County 3-2 and the Gaston Braves 6-2
Sunday’s game will be the third of the season at Henkel-Alley Field, where Hickory plays its home games. They are played at the Legion Fairgrounds in Newton.
Post 48 has three games this week, all at 7 p.m.: Thursday versus Lincolnton at East Lincoln High; Saturday against Caldwell County at M.S. Deal Stadium in Granite Falls; and Sunday at home against Rutherford County.
