KANNAPOLIS – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men opened their golf season by finishing seventh at the Queens Invitational at the Club at Irish Creek on Tuesday.
Senior Jackson Bailey of Matthews and junior Brad Robinson of Newcastle, United Kingdom led LRU in the two-day event. Both finished at 5-over par 218 and they tied for 22nd.
The Bears shot 872 (20 over par) on a par-71 7,099-yard course while Coker won the tournament by shooting even par 852.
Mars Hill’s Harry Butler won the individual title, finishing 6-under par (207) after three rounds of play.
The Bears next compete in the Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Invitational Oct. 2-3 at the Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, S.C.
