BILOXI, Ms. — Superb control got Hayden Deal through the inning he pitched on Tuesday night.
The Mississippi Braves hammered host Biolix 13-2 with Deal pitching the sixth inning. He gave up no hits, no runs, walked none and struck out none.
Deal faced three batters before a crowd of 1,590 and threw one ball and five strikes as the second of five pitchers used by the Braves.
He did not pitch on Wednesday in a series that continues on Thursday in Biloxi.
Deal is 3-2 this season in 28 games with an ERA of 2.89 with 48 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings.
After 115 pro games, he is 23-17 with an ERA of 3.25 in 370 2/3 innings with 328 strikeouts.
Deal, a left-hander, played high school baseball at Bandys and college baseball at Presbyterian, (S.C.).
