MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Deal makes another start for Mississippi

DEAL

Hayden Deal moved  back into a starting role in his last outing for Double A Mississippi.

Deal, a left-hander and former star at Bandys High, has been used primarily as a reliever this season for the Braves but on Wednesday got the call to start against visiting Rocket City.

Mississippi eventually won 9-3 and Deal did not get a decision. He pitched four innings, giving up two hits, no runs, walking one and striking out two.

The series continues through Sunday.

Deal threw 46 strikes on 63 pitches, facing 15  batters before a crowd of 2,727.

He is 2-2 this season with an ERA of 3.86 in 22 games, going 46 2/3 innings and striking out 41.

After 109 pro games, Deal is 22-17 with an ERA of 3.22 with an eye-catching 321 strikeouts in 363 2/3 innings.
