Zach Jarrett’s eighth home run of the season — a fourth-inning, two-out solo shot — helped Norfolk (Va.) beat visiting Memphis 3-1 on Sunday to sweep a doubleheader.
Jarrett did not play in the first game on Sunday, won 5-1 by the Tides.
He started in centerfield and batted seventh in the second game, going 1-for-3 before a crowd of 3,699.
Jarrett is hitting .243 and has 29 RBIs as Norfolk heads next to Charlotte for a six-game series that begins on Tuesday night.
The Tides are off on Monday.
Games in Charlotte on Tuesday through Friday are 7:04 p.m., Saturday’s game will be at 1:05 p.m., and next Sunday’s game will be at 5:05 p.m.
The Tides are 37-51 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 19 1/2 games back of Durham.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round after a solid college career at Charlotte. In high school, he was a multiple sports start at Hickory.
