Deal is a left-hander who played at Bandys High and Presbyterian College.
Last appearance: Monday as starter in 5-0 loss at Dunedin (Fla.) before 92 fans in 88-degree weather.
He pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up eight hits, five runs (all earned) with two walks and three strikeouts.
Deal threw strikes on 62 of his 102 pitches and faced 25 batters.
Florida is 29-54.
Current stats: 3-7, 2.81 ERA, 15 starts, 83 1/3 innings pitched, two hit batters, 22 walks, 67 strikeouts.

Jarrett is a former star at Hickory High and at Charlotte who is back with the Keys after playing about a month at Class AA Bowie (Md.).
Thursday: Game at Carolina was rained out, reset for Friday as part of a doubleheader; Fedrick is 34-49.
Wednesday: Went 1-for-2 with a walk as designated hitter in first game of an 8-0 home loss against Lynchburg (Va.); was 1-for-4 and scored twice in 6-4 loss while batting third in the order and playing center field.
Tuesday: Game at home against Lynchburg (Va.) was rained out, reset for Wednesday as part of a doubleheader.
Monday: Batted fourth and started in center field in a 4-3 home loss against Lynchburg (Va.), going 1-for-4.
Current stats: .274, five home runs, 25 RBIs.
