Maiden High, after a fourth-place finish in Southern District 7 Athletic 2A girls’ soccer, picked up two of the three individual awards in voting by conference coaches.
Elena Propst of the Blue Devils won the league’s Offensive Player of the Year award and her coach, Patrick Clark, was named Coach of the Year.
Leia Simmons of West Lincoln earned Defensive Player of the Year.
After falling 7-1 to West Stokes in the first round of the state 2A playoffs, Maiden finished 11-10-0. The Blue Devils, 7-7-0 in the SD-7 2A, were fourth in the standings behind Newton-Conover, Lincolnton and East Lincoln. They won four matches the season before.
Simmons starred for a West Lincoln team that finished 4-15-1, including 2-12-0 and last in the conference.
Conference champion Newton-Conover, eliminated by Forbush on Wednesday night in a third-round state playoff match, led the All-SD-7 2A picks with five selections. East Lincoln and Lincolnton each have four.
