CHRIS HOBBS

HobbsDailyReport.com

Our 4,004th post at HobbsDailyReport.com – which launched in April 2017 – is this one wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season and MERRY CHRISTMAS from our staff of two – myself and my wife, Myra.

Thanks … and on Christmas Eve 2018 we greatly appreciate:

  • You — the readers of our FREE online sports section – for coming to the website and welcoming it to the local sports mix. From December of last year to December of this year our audience has doubled … and it continues to grow monthly.
  • MYRA HOBBS

To our two main advertisers, Dwayne Wilson Insurance and Financial Planning and Burke Mortuary, who have been with us on this journey from the beginning. They love local sports and provide support that allows more exposure for local student-athletes and for local schools. Their support allows us to keep all the posts and reporting at HobbsDailyReport.com free to you.

  • To the 23 local high schools and three conferences – South Fork 2A, Northwestern Foothills 2A and Northwestern 3A-4A – and the athletic departments and coaches at those schools. Also, Lenoir-Rhyne University, Catawba Valley Community College and the Hickory Crawdads, all of whom provide information on their athletic events.
  • To our media partners – The Observer News Enterprise (Editor Seth Mabry) and to Dave Lingafelt, owner of radio stations WNNC 1230AM and WAIZ 63 Big Ways – who use content from HobbsDailyReport.com, as needed, and vice versa. You can hear local sports news via daily broadcasts on WNNC 1230AM and WAIZ 63 Big Ways and listen to our ads generated by the station(s).
  • Local photographer Michelle Thompson, whose work appears regularly on HobbsDailyReport.com. She loves shooting local sports and student-athletes, and we’re proud to have her work as part of coverage of many of our events. If you have an interest in specific photos of an event or one involving your student-athlete, contact Michelle at mmcls550@icloud.com
  • The best website guy in the business, my old colleague Chad Austin (visit chadaustin.com). When I first thought of developing HobbsDailyReport.com and sought him out, his encouragement that I had something still to offer was important. And his hands-on work to develop the website, improve upon its appearance and how it functions and still providing guidance has helped make the site a success.
  • On a personal note, thanks to my wife (and boss, LOL) and my family for their support as I transitioned from a very long newspaper career to being an editor-owner of my own local sports website. The impact of the support from my mom, now 87, and my older brother, now 66, can’t be measured. All of the work associated with HobbsDailyReport.com in 2018 has been dedicated to the loving memory of my other brother, David, who was tragically killed by an 18-wheeler last December… hope we’ve made you proud, bro.
