JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men collected a long-awaited road victory over Carson-Newman on Wednesday night, winning 78-62 to win on the Eagles’ floor for the first time since 2012.
The Bears (8-1, 2-1 South Atlantic Conference) snapped a six-game losing streak in games played at Carson-Newman in large part by making 14 3-pointers and shooting 45.2 percent on 3-pointers.

Carson-Newman fell to 5-2 overall and 0-3 in the SAC.
Senior point guard Jon Jean had his first career double-double to lead the Bears, scoring 12 points and dishing out 11 assists while making only one turnover.
Sophomore R.J. Gunn led LRU’s scoring with 17 points while Cory Thomas added 16 points and Djibril Diallo added 14 (four 3-pointers).
LRU made 16 of 31 shots in the opening half and was 8-for-16 on 3-pointers over the final 20 minutes.
The Bears forced the Eagles into 17 turnovers and had only nine.
Runs of 10-0 in the first half and 15-0 in the second had LRU up by as many as 32 points.
The loss was the third straight for Carson-Newman, a first in nine years under head coach Chuck Benson.
LRU’s next game is Wednesday at noon, with Clayton State visiting Shuford Gym on Education Day.
