HICKORY – Catawba Valley Community College won all five of its matches in the fifth annual Region X-travaganza at the Tarlton Complex, improving to 9-6 overall.
The Red Hawks won twice on Friday and three times on Saturday and they have a 6-0 record in Region X.
CVCC next plays on Thursday in a tri-match in Thomasville, facing Davidson County at 3 p.m. and Spartanburg Methodist at 4:30 p.m.
CVCC 3, Pitt Community College 0
Paced by Emma Clark’s eight kills, the Red Hawks shut out the Bulldogs in their first match on Saturday, 25-11, 25-16 and 25-20.
Sage Harrington added seven kills and two blocks for CVCC.

Powered by Harrington’s eight kills, the Red Hawks swept the Knights, 25-13, 25-20 and 25-18.
Clark added six kills for CVCC, and setter Emilee Webber made three of the Red Hawks’ 11 aces.
CVCC 3, Louisburg 1
Despite dropping their first set in conference play this season, the Red Hawks rallied for a four-set victory against the Hurricanes.
CVCC won 25-10., 20-25, 25-12 and 25-13.
Rachel Delcamp paced CVCC with six kills, while Harrington, Meredith Patterson and Clark each added five kills.
CVCC 3, Bryant & Stratton 0 (Friday)

CVCC won 25-11, 25-15 and 25-13.
The Red Hawks had 18 aces with freshman Macy Pope leading that with five. Freshman Zoe Phillips added four aces — all in the early stages of set No. 2 — and sophomore libero Emily Williams chipped in three aces.
Clark provided five blocks (four assisted), and Siena Naotala added four blocks and a team-high six kills.
CVCC 3, Wake Tech 0 (Friday)
The Red Hawks closed out a successful first day, winning 25-19, 25-13 and 25-18.
Delcamp paced CVCC with 10 kills, while Clark and Naotala added seven and six kills, respectively.
Defensively, Emily Williams tallied a team-high 18 digs and Pope (10 digs) and Delcamp (13) also reached double-digits in digs.
