Maiden High swept the softball awards, and Bandys won two of the three baseball awards in the South Fork 2A regular season.
In a Friday morning email from conference officials, the softball awards – voted on by league coaches – went to Morgan Boheimer of Maiden (Defensive Player of The Year), LaShayla Thompson of Maiden (Offensive Player of the Year) and Hugh McCall (Coach of the Year).
In baseball, Tyler McPeak of North Lincoln won Offensive Player of the Year and the other two awards went to T.J. Rasar of Bandys (Defensive Player of the Year) and the Trojans’ head coach, Frank Porter, won Coach of the Year.
North Lincoln defeated Maiden 5-4 on Thursday night at Maiden to win the conference softball tournament title while North Lincoln beat Bandys 3-0 at the Legion Fairgrounds, also on Thursday night, to take the league tournament crown.
Maiden and North Lincoln shared the league title in the regular season in softball, and North Lincoln won the baseball regular-season championship.
The two automatic South Fork 2A state playoff bids are Maiden (1) and North Lincoln (2) in softball and North Lincoln (1) and Bandys (2) in baseball.
Additional South Fork 2A teams in both sports may qualify for the postseason, based on overall record, conference finish and MaxPreps rankings.
