Zach Jarrett tied a school and Conference USA record for single-game home runs this weekend, hitting three against UAB.

CHARLOTTE – Zach Jarrett is racing into the baseball record books at Charlotte this season.
Jarrett, a 6-foot-4, 226-pound senior outfielder and son of NASCAR-famous Dale Jarrett and grandson of Ned Jarrett, had a huge game Saturday, tying a school record and a Conference USA single-game record with three home runs.
Charlotte beat the University of Alabama-Birmingham 17-5 as Jarrett registered a 4-for-4 day that included the three dingers, reaching base in all seven of his plate appearances, driving in four runs and scoring five. He led off the game with a home run.
Jarrett, a product of head coach David Craft’s baseball program at Hickory High, came up in the seventh inning on Saturday with two runners on and walked on a 3-2 pitch.
He is hitting .353 with seven home runs through Sunday, when the 49ers (27-17, 14-7) again beat UAB. His batting average on April 7 was .301 and has been steadily climbing.
As a junior, Jarrett hit .248 with four home runs and 33 RBIs, and his career stats are a .264 batting average with 20 home runs.
The next six 49ers games are at home, starting with a Friday 6 p.m. battle with Rice. The series continues Saturday at 2 p.m. and the finale is Sunday at 1 p.m. Charlotte meets Tulsa in Charlotte on May 12-14, and all six upcoming games are available on CUSA-TV.
The 49ers are currently tied for third place in the league at 14-7, trailing Southern Mississippi (16-7) and Florida Atlantic (15-6).
Jarrett, who wears No. 10 for Charlotte, has started all 44 games this season and 148 straight dating back to his sophomore year.
