PGA TOUR: Former Hickory star Poston tied for lead after opening round

FORTH WORTH, Tex. – Former Hickory High golfer J.T. Poston shares the lead after Thursday’s US PGA Tour Dean & DeLuca Invitational first round.

Poston, who starred in college at Western Carolina, shot a 5-under par 65 at the Colonial Country Club and is tied with Kelly Kraft and Derek Fathauer for the lead.

Fathauer had six birdies in his round and four in the final nine holes.

Kraft had a bogey and five birdies.

Poston had six birdies and one bogey.

Round 2 is Friday, and the final two rounds are Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

This is Poston’s first year on the PGA Tour. In 18 events, he has made 14 cuts and won nearly $575,000. His best finish is a tie for 10th at the Puerto Rico Open in late March.
