SD-7 2A GIRLS SOCCER: Mustangs edge Bandys, move into second place

CATAWBA – East Lincoln High’s girls moved into second place alone in Southern District 7 Athletic 2A soccer with a 3-1 victory over Bandys on the road on Wednesday night.

The Mustangs improved to 7-1-1 in the league, going a half-game up on Newton-Conover (6-1-1) as they chase league-leading Lincolnton (7-0-2) in the championship race.

Bandys dropped to 2-7-0 and is tied with idle West Lincoln and West Caldwell for sixth place in an eight-team race.

On Thursday night, West Caldwell will visit East Lincoln for a 5 p.m. start, and Bandys meets Bunker Hill at Bandys with a 6;30 p.m. start.
