MAIDEN – Lincolnton High’s girls nipped Maiden 2-1 on Thursday night, and the Wolves remain in second place in Southern District 7 Athletic 2A soccer.
Lincolnton, 8-1-2 in the conference, trails league-leading Newton-Conover (9-1-1) and was a game up on third-place East Lincoln in the loss column entering Thursday’s play.
Elena Propst and Danielle Donovan scored for Maiden, 6-5-0 and in fourth place, and Gracie Arrowood had an assist.
Maiden has a makeup league match at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at East Lincoln while the Wolves’ next match is set for Tuesday at home against West Lincoln at 6:30 p.m.
