NW 3A-4A GIRLS SOCCER: St. Stephens shuts out Freedom in Morganton

MORGANTON – Makenzie Stafford made four saves on Wednesday night as St. Stephens High nipped host Freedom 2-0 in Northwestern 3A-4A girls’ soccer at the Catawba River Soccer Complex.

Emily Janicki and Caroline Beane each scored a goal in the second half for St. Stephens, 5-6-0 in the conference.

St. Stephens led the match in shots (17-6) and in corner kicks (7-6) en route to dropping the Patriots to 5-11-0 overall and 1-10-0 in the conference.

St. Stephens, in sixth place, is scheduled to play at second-place Fred T. Foard on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Freedom will travel Patton for a league match on Friday at 6 p.m.
