WOMEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Rollins reels in 10th victory by downing Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY – Getting eight of its goals from two players, Rollins defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University 15-6 on Sunday in women’s lacrosse to extend its winning streak to nine matches.

Kallie German and Hannah Ashton each scored four times for Rollins in a non-conference victory at Moretz Stadium.

Rollins improved to 10-2, and the Bears fell to 4-7.

LRU faced a nationally ranked opponent for the fifth time this season.

The Bears’ next play on Wednesday, a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) match at 4 p.m. at Mars Hill.

On Sunday, sophomore attacker Cathleen Gaffney paced LRU with two goals and an assists. She has a team-best 19 assists this season.

The Tars’ Malorie Olin was in goal, earning a win after making 12 saves, while LRU senior Ines Flueck had nine saves.
