HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University has signed four more recruits for 2018 in women’s volleyball, including a North Iredell High star.
In a press release, the Bears announced they’ve added Ashley Hawkins of North Iredell, Braely Faust of West Rowan, Helen Hamilton of Greensboro Page and Alannah Thomas of Greenville Conley.
“These are four outstanding student-athletes who will make an immediate impact on our program,” LRU head volleyball coach Dave Markland said in the release. “These four are also well-rounded and will represent the university well.”
Hawkins, a 5-foot-8 outside hitter, has twice been selected as a conference player of the year. She led North Iredell to a state 3A title last fall and was the MVP of the state final, and she has also played for the I.C. Stars.
Faust, a 6-1 middle blocker, has twice been named All-Rowan County and she also has played for the I.C. Stars.
Hamilton, a 5-11 setter, is a two-time All-Metro 4A selection and the 2017 league player of the year. She played club volleyball for the Twin City Academy (TCVA).
Thomas, a 5-9 outside hitter, was twice named All-Eastern 4A Conference and led Conley to an 87-11 record over four seasons. As a junior, Conley went 25-1 and reached the East 4A title match. She also played for the East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club (ECJVC) and earned Carolina Region MVP honors.
