COLLEGE GOLF: Lenoir-Rhyne men finish 15th at Newberry Invitational

NEWBERRY, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men finished 15th in their first golf tournament of the season, completing play on Tuesday in the Newberry College Invitational.

Matthew Raybould led the Bears (73-72-86—231) and tied for 42nd in individual scoring over two days. LRU’s Luis Lopez Malo (78-75-78—231) also tied for 42nd.

Brad Robinson (76-77-79-232) of LRU finished 50th.

Other Bears scores were a 239 by Lasso de la Vegan Jessen and a 244 by Dawson Walker.

Joel Sylven of Missouri St. Louis was the individual champion at even par 216 while Young Harris won the team title by two strokes over Florida Southern.

The Bears’ next play on Feb. 24-26 when they go to Hilton Head, S.C., for the Battle at Hilton Head Invitational.
