BOONE – Watauga High has hired a new wrestling coach, WATA Radio (1450 AM) reported on Thursday.
Dustin Kerley, the Pioneers’ athletic director, announced this week the hiring of Kevin Yandle to teach physical education at Watauga and guide the wrestling program.
Yandle is an Appalachian State graduate (2015) and worked as an assistant coach at Watauga from 2012-15, the radio station reported.
Before coming to Watauga, Yandle taught elementary PE at Wilkesboro Elementary. He also worked with the Equip Sports Ministries Program at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Boone.
Yandle replaces Todd Allen, who resigned in February to concentrate on boys’ lacrosse.
