HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS GOLF: Hickory’s McDonald top player in Northwestern 3A-4A

Hickory High’s Anna McDonald has been picked as the Northwestern 3A-4A’s Player of the Year in girls’ golf.

The all-conference team is led by four picks from McDowell, the conference champion, and four from Alexander Central, which finished in fourth place.

Freedom’s Rob Scott was named Coach of the Year after the Patriots finished second in the league.

McDowell won with 818 strokes and Freedom was next at 855. Hickory finished third (945), followed by Alexander Central (990), South Caldwell (1.012) and Watauga (1.076).

Alexander Central: Jasmine Kerley, Heather Cronan, Kaitlyn Harrington, Jasmine Dessert

Freedom: Albany Bock, Christina Fisher

Hickory: Claire Darden, Anna McDonald

McDowell: Kendall Brooks, Tyler Price, McKenzie Hartman, Ansley Lance

South Caldwell: Hannah Bumgarner

Watauga: Emiley Geoque, Bethany Critcher

Golf of the Year: Anna McDonald, Hickory

Coach of the Year: Rob Scott, Freedom
