GREENSBORO — The West All-Stars girls’ basketball team won on Monday night at the Greensboro Coliseum, beating the East 87-66 with the three players from Greater Hickory area schools combining for 22 points.
Adair Garrison of Freedom, one of the original picks for the West roster, scored six points on 1-of-10 shooting and she made three of four free throws.
Danisha Hemphill of Freedom and Finley Lefevers of Hickory were added to the West roster as replacements players, with Hemphill scoring seven points (2-of-9 shooting, made three of five free throws) and Lefevers adding nine points (3-for-4 shooting, hit both her free throws).
The West team was originally selected by Brad Mangum of North Lincoln, who was not able to coach in the game. He withdrew before the team arrived in order to remain home and care for his wife, Brooke. She is just out of the hospital and recovering from COVID.
