HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cribb cranks up, leads N. Lincoln to league win

HUNTERSVILLE – Another big night by running back Clayton Cribb sparked visiting North Lincoln High to another football victory on Friday night, 55-7 over Lake Norman Charter.

Cribb, a junior, ran for 173 yards and four touchdowns in a victory that improved North Lincoln to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the South Fork 2A.

A week earlier, Cribb ran for 201 yards in a league win over West Lincoln. He now has seven of his eight rushing TDs in the last two games and 374 of his unofficial 703 rushing yards this season in back-to-back games.

Cribb ran for scores on runs of 2, 9 and 37 yards as North Lincoln built a 35-7 halftime lead. His final TD came in the third quarter, extending the lead to 48-7.

North Lincoln head coach Steven Pack pulled his starters in the final quarter after his team gained a 42-point lead to force a running clock the rest of the way (by North Carolina High School Athletic Association rules).

North Lincoln held Lake Norman Charter (3-3, 0-2) to less than 140 yards of total offense and one score, a 60-yard pass from quarterback Jackson Newton to Jaden Goodman. Newton threw three interceptions.

North Lincoln, tied for fourth place in the conference with West Lincoln, plays at home next Friday night against East Lincoln at 7:30 p.m.

Lake Norman Charter, which has been outscored 168-128 this season, travels to play Maiden at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in a conference game.
