JARRETT
Zach Jarrett’s batting average is down to .250 after he went hitless on Thursday night when Norfolk (Va.) fell 8-1 in a Triple-A game at Gwinnett (Ga.).
Again batting second in the order for the Tides and starting in centerfield, Jarrett went 0-for-4 and struck out twice.
The series continues in Gwinnett on Friday night.
Jarrett has eight home runs and 22 RBIs this season and is a career .262 hitter with 34 home runs and 149 RBIs in 353 pro games.
The Tides are 25-40 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 21 games back of division-leading Durham.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
Jarrett was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
