OLIN – North Iredell High’s girls and the Lake Norman boys are the top seeds for the Iredell County Sports Hall of Fame Holiday Classic, which opens play Thursday at North Iredell.
North Iredell’s girls received a first-round bye in a field of seven teams and won’t play until Friday in a semifinal at 6 p.m. against the winner of No. 5 Mooresville against No. 4 West Iredell.
The boys’ field has eight teams with No. 8 North Iredell playing No. 1 Lake Norman on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The tournament opens with the No. 6 Statesville boys playing third-seeded Pine Lake Prep at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The championship games are scheduled Saturday with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game at 7:30 p.m.
The defending tournament champions are the North Iredell girls and Lake Norman boys.
North Iredell won last year’s girls’ title as a top seed, beating No. 3 Mooresville 54-34 in the title game at Mooresville.
Lake Norman’s boys, seeded No. 2, knocked off top-seeded South Iredell 80-62 in last season’s championship game at Mooresville.
