HICKORY – The Lenoir-Rhyne University women will play their first four games this season on the road, opening against two challenging non-conference foes in Jefferson City, Tenn.
The Bears announced their 2018-19 scheduled by press release for a season that begins on Nov. 9. The opening game is at 5 p.m. against Lander at Carson-Newman, and the second game is Nov. 10, also at Carson-Newman, against USC Aiken.
“Opening weekend will be a good test for our team,” Bears head coach Cameron Sealey said in the press release.
LRU has games at UNC Pembroke and at Chowan before playing its home opener on Nov. 20 against South Atlantic Conference (SAC) rival Newberry, S.C.
After playing two Carolinas Conference foes in December, the Bears have 16 straight league games (the first against Tusculum on Jan. 5).
Sealy, a former Bears player from East Gaston High in Mount Holly, will be in her second season as head coach at her alma mater.
LRU went 15-14 overall last season and 9-11 in the SAC, finishing in eighth place.
