COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Lenoir-Rhyne still at No. 13 in NCAA Division II’s Top 25

The Bears are ranked No. 13 in the country in the latest NCAA Division II poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s latest rankings look encouraging as the Bears await word if they’re going to get a bid into the NCAA Division II women’s softball championships.

In the latest National Fast-pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 rankings for Division II, LRU (46-11) remained at No. 13, and they are No. 5 in latest Southeast Regional rankings.

The NCAA Division II field will be revealed Monday at 10 a.m. in a selection show, with the top eight teams from each region earning a spot in the national tournament. The Bears are vying for their 12th such trip.

LRU is coming off a share of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) regular season title with Carson-Newman, the 11th title won by the Bears.

The Bears are led by senior catcher Sarah Kenley of Charlotte – the SAC Player of the Year this season – and sophomore outfielder Erin Boone of Creedmoor.

  • Pfeiffer University, coached by former Alexander Central high head coach Monte Sherrill and featuring several former Cougars on his roster, is ranked No. 8 among the Top 25 with a record of 44-6.
