JARRETT
Norfolk (Va.) split a doubleheader on Wednesday, winning 2-1 and losing 4-3 in seven-inning games at Gwinnett (Ga.).
Zach Jarrett batted No. 2 in the order and started in centerfield in both games for Norfolk.
He was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored a run in the first-game victory and then 0-for-3 with a walk in the second-game loss.
The Triple-A series continues in Gwinnett on Thursday night.
Jarrett is hitting .255 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs this season.
The Tides are 25-39 and in sixth place in the Triple-A East Southeast Division, 20 games back of division-leading Durham.
Five of the six teams trailing Durham are at least 12 games behind.
Jarrett has been in Triple-A since a promotion from Double-A Bowie (Md.) on May 19, and he has twice been assigned to the Baltimore Orioles during his career (March 2019 and February 2020).
Jarrett was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 and taken in the 28th round.
The Tides will return to Charlotte for a six-game series from Aug. 17-22.
