FORT WORTH, Tex. – A final round of 71 left former Hickory High and Western Carolina golfer J.T. Poston tied for 41st on Sunday as the US PGA Tour Dean & DeLuca Invitational ended.
Poston opened with three straight birdies en route to a 32 on the front nine, but had two bogeys (No. 12 and 17) and a double bogey (No. 14) on the back nine to close at 71. That left him at 282 after his scores of 65, 76 and 70 in the first three rounds.
Poston tied six other golfers for 41st.
Kevin Kisner shot a 66, finishing at 10-under par 270, to win the championship by a stroke over Jordan Speith, Sean O’Hair and Jon Rahm.
The PGA Tour’s next stop is Thursday through next weekend in Dublin, Oh., at The Memorial presented by Nationwide.
The Tour has two stops in North Carolina coming on consecutive weekend in August – the PGA Championship is at Quail Hollow in Charlotte on Aug. 10-13 and the Wyndham Championships are Aug. 17-20 in Greensboro.
Poston has made the cut in 15 of the 19 tournaments he has played on this year’s PGA Tour schedule.
