The eighth-seeded Tigers (15-7) won for the ninth time in 11 home games this season to earn another one on Saturday against No. 25 Forestview or No. 9 West Iredell.
No. 10 Marvin Ridge 5, No. 24 Freedom 0: The Patriots were eliminated on the road in a first-round 3A game on Tuesday.
Marvin Ridge advances to Saturday’s second round and plays No. 27 Cuthbertson at home.
Freedom reached the postseason after sharing third place with Hibriten in the Northwestern 3A-4A regular season and finished 9-11.
No. 27 Cuthbertson 9, No. 7 Crest 5: At Crest, the Chargers (16-6) were bumped out of the 3A playoffs. They had the best 3A record this season (11-5) in the South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A and finished second.
Cuthbertson travels to Marvin Ridge for a second round game.
No. 4 Piedmont 17, No. 26 North Lincoln 0: The Knights (9-13) were eliminated in a first-round 3A game that leaves Piedmont awaiting No. 21 South Point or No. 15 East Henderson in the next round on Saturday.

No.1 Alexander Central 10, No. 32 W-S Glenn 2: Kendra Mayes reached 15 wins by scattering six hits and Julie Gast and Chesney Millsaps each drove in three runs as the Cougars cruised in a 4A first-round game in Taylorsville.
Alexander Central (24-3) next plays No. 17 Southeast Guilford, a 5-2 first-round winner on Tuesday over No. 16 Olympic, in the second round (game must be completed by Saturday).
Against Glenn, Mayes threw a complete game, giving up two runs (one earned) with no walks and five strikeouts.
The Cougars had 12 hits — three by Gast and two each by Brittney Krider, Millsaps and Alexis Walter – and they erased Glenn’s 2-1 lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. When they scored four in the bottom of the fifth, they were up 8-2.
Leeann Kluk had an RBI for Winston-Salem Glenn, a solo home run.
No. 10 Mooresville 13, No. 22 East Forsyth 0: The Blue Devils (19-3) rolled to a first round victory at home, setting up a second round game on Saturday at No. 4 A.L. Brown, a 16-6 winner over No. 27 Myers Park.
Mooresville went 12-2 in the North Piedmont 3A-4A, sharing the regular season title with Alexander Central.

No. 15 East Lincoln 11, No. 18 Bunker Hill 7: The Mustangs beat the Bears for the third time this season – and second time in a week – to advance in the 2A bracket.
East Lincoln (16-7) faces No. 30 Wheatmore or No. 2 West Wilkes in the next round on Saturday.
Bunker Hill (14-9) beat East Lincoln in their first game this season, 13-5 at Bunker Hill, but the Mustangs rebounded to win 9-6 at home and then beat the Bears 3-2 on May 3 in the conference tournament semifinals at Bunker Hill.
No. 26 South Stokes 6, No. 8 West Lincoln 5: At West Lincoln, the Sauras surprised the Southern District 7 Athletic 2A regular season and tournament champion Rebels (17-7).
South Stokes now plays at No. 20 Polk County or No. 10 West Davidson in the second round.
No. 7 East Davidson 11, No. 25 West Caldwell 0: The Eagles eliminated the Warriors (11-12) from the 2A bracket.
East Davidson advances to next play No. 24 Mount Pleasant or No. 9 Franklin at a site to be determined.
