FOREST CITY – R-S Central High’s 4-0 road victory over Chase left it tied for the lead in South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A baseball on Thursday night.
The Hilltoppers (13-3, 10-2) rebounded from Tuesday’s non-league loss to Chesnee, S.C., to stay tied atop the conference standings with East Rutherford (13-2, 10-2), which beat visiting Shelby 4-1 on Thursday for its eighth straight victory.
Chase is 1-14 overall and 1-12 in the league after its third straight loss.
R-S Central is headed to next week’s Causby Classic at Patton, playing a first-round game on Monday against Bandys.
Chase is also in the Causby and plays Monday against Freedom.
