RALEIGH – Brann Reid of Newton-Conover High brought home a state 2A singles championship on Saturday.
After nudging Maiden’s Daniel Crutcher 6-0, 6-0 in a semifinal match at N.C. State, Reid collected the title trophy with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Depei Yu of North Carolina School of Science and Math.
Reid’s singles titles for the Red Devils is their first since Brian Riley won one in 1986.
