HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: W. Lincoln wins SD-7 2A; Red Devils’ McNeely wins POY

West Lincoln High won the Southern District 7 Athletic 2A golf championship, and the league’s golfer of the year is Logan McNeely of Newton-Conover.

The conference released its final standings and All-SD7 2A on Wednesday.

West Lincoln shot a cumulative 1,903 in eight league matches to finish 16 shots ahead of Newton-Conover. Maiden (1,933) and East Lincoln (1,942) were third and fourth in the team race, respectively.

McNeely finished at 326 for the regular season to edge West Lincoln’s Henry Saine by 18 strokes. Matt Gurnsey of West Caldwell (352) was third, Dalton Adams of West Lincoln (358) and Lance Rowe of East Lincln and Kenan Lawing of Maiden, each at 364, tied for fifth.

West Lincoln’s David Avery was named the Coach of the Year.
