South Iredell High’s unbeaten girls’ soccer team claimed another victim on Friday night in the state 3A playoffs.
Playing at home, the top-seeded Vikings nipped No. 16 Cuthbertson 2-1 in second round match to set up a match next week against No. 11 Hickory Ridge (16-4-2) or No. 7 Hickory (19-3-0), who meet Saturday in Hickory at 7 p.m.
The Vikings, regular season champions in the North Piedmont 3A-4A, are 20-0-0.
All third round matches must be completed by Wednesday.

No. 2 Smoky Mountain 3, No. 15 East Lincoln 2: Host Smoky Mountain (20-2-0) won a second-round match in a shootout, ending the Mustangs’ season at 13-6-3.
Next up for Smoky Mountain will be No. 11 Polk County (15-5-0) or No. 6 Parkwood (16-3-3), who meet Saturday in Monroe. That third-round match must be played by Wednesday at Smoky Mountain.
No. 12 West Davidson at No. 4 Newton-Conover: No information was available on the status of a second-round match in Newton that was scheduled to be played on Friday night.

No. 22 Hibriten at No. 5 Kings Mountain: The Panthers’ match scheduled Friday on the road was postponed by rain and reset for Saturday at 7 p.m.
Hibriten is 10-7-3 and the Mountaineers, who went unbeaten in South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A play, are 20-2.
The winner next plays No. 19 Central Cabarrus (13-7-1) or No. 4 Cox Mill (20-2), who meet Saturday at 6 p.m. at Cox Mill.

No. 9 East Rutherford (12-5-3) travels to play No. 7 Lake Norman Charter (16-5-0) at 6 p.m., and No. 16 R-S Central (13-6-1) faces No. 1 Hendersonville (18-1-0) on the road at 6 p.m.
Also, No. 13 Lincolnton (13-4-3) goes to No. 5 Forbush (18-5-1) for a 5 p.m. start.

Hickory and North Iredell have second round matches.
No. 7 Hickory (19-3-0) is at home at 7 p.m. against No. 11 Hickory Ridge (16-4-2), while No. 14 North Iredell (16-6-0) is facing No. 3 Asheville Reynolds (20-1-2) on the road at 7 p.m.
If Hickory wins, it goes to No. 1 South Iredell next, and North Iredell would earn another road match by going to No. 6 Weddington (19-2-0).

There are two area teams left, No. 5 Lake Norman (18-3-1) and No. 6 Watauga (12-2-3).
On Saturday at 5 p.m., it’s No 13 Porter Ridge (19-3-1) playing at the Wildcats and No. 11 Greensboro Grimsley (16-2-0) visiting the Pioneers at 7 p.m.
A win by Lake Norman would pit it against No. 12 Charlotte Catholic (18-2-3) or No. 3 Greensboro Page (18-2-0) in the next round.
If Watauga wins, it will play No. 15 Providence (13-3-3) or No. 1 West Forsyth (21-1-1) in the next round.
