HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Suns didn’t prove to be blinding or too much for the Hickory Crawdads in an early morning game on Monday.
Hickory (12-19)closed a four-game series at Hagerstown with a 6-1 victory that featured three hits each from Yanio Perez and Alex Kowalczyk. Perez hit his seventh home run of the season in the fourth inning and Kowalczyk hit his first in the sixth.
Jonathan Hernandez (6-2) got a win as the Crawdads starter, going 5 2/3 innings. He gave up six hits, one run (earned), walked two and struck out 10.
The Crawdads are off on Tuesday before beginning a seven-game home stand. First in is Charleston, S.C., for three games — the first one coming Wednesday at 6 p.m. — and then Greensboro arrives for four games that include a morning game next Tuesday.
