ALL-SD-7 2A SOFTBALL: Rebels lead the way; Bunker Hill’s Huffman tops on defense

West Lincoln High, the regular-season and conference tournament champion in Southern District 7 Athletic 2A, leads the all-conference team released late Friday night.

The Rebels (17-6), who beat East Lincoln 9-8 in Claremont to add a tournament title to their regular season crown, had five All-SD-7 2A picks in voting by the conference’s eight head coaches.

West Lincoln’s Jessica Adams won the Offensive Player of the Year, Maggie Huffman of Bunker Hill was named the top defensive player in the league, and Tyler Sain of West Lincoln won Coach of the Year.

Adams, a junior infielder, has unofficial statistics of a .520 batting average, .560 on-base percentage and 34 RBIs through West Lincoln’s first 21 games.

Huffman, a senior, has an unofficial pitching record of 8-4 with a 1.92 ERA this season with 98 strikeouts in 91 innings pitched. She helped Bunker Hill tied Maiden for third-place behind West Lincoln and East Lincoln in the regular season.

West Lincoln has won 101 games in the last five seasons under Sain, going 101-26 through Friday night.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Adams, W. Lincoln.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Huffman, Bunker Hill

COACH OF THE YEAR: Tyler Sain, W. Lincoln.
